Domestic extension with new-build recording studio
This project was designed for a client who writes and produces music for television programmes. The brief called for a design that would allow the client’s work environment to remain an integral part of the house and allow views out and natural light in to both the control room and recording studio, whilst achieving a high level of acoustic isolation.
The new recording studio is quite a large volume, and could have been problematic in relation to the existing house. We therefore decided to divorce the studio annexe from the existing house, inserting a glass slot between them, and allowing the extension to be read almost as a separate building.
