New-build extension to a C18th Grade II* Listed Hall
Since its restoration in 2004, Colwick Hall has been operating as a boutique hotel and unique destination for weddings, conferences and graduation balls. With its growing popularity the Hotel sought to provide additional bedroom accommodation and develop a permanent solution to replace the current marquee arrangement that serves as the primary function suite.
Following a two-stage invited design competition we were appointed to develop our ideas further. We proposed 2 new bedroom wings to flank the existing building, designed sympathetically to the materials and proportional of the Listed hall. Set within the grounds, and nestling behind the neighbouring stables, the new multipurpose function room adopts a low-rise vernacular form and addresses its lakeside setting.
The design was developed in partnership with the client, and involved extensive consultation with English Heritage and the building owner, Nottingham City Council.
