Belper Tea Rooms

New-build Café Pavilion for Amber Valley Borough Council, Belper, Derbyshire

We were shortlisted in this competition to replace the Swiss Tea Rooms in Belper, following the refurbishment of the surrounding Grade II Listed Edwardian River Gardens and promenade along the River Derwent.

Our proposal echoes the size and form of the existing structure, combining traditional materials in a contemporary way. The design aims to be sympathetic to the setting and special character of the River Gardens and to complement the surrounding World Heritage Site as a whole.
